How Can severe Cough Along With Wheezing Be Treated?

Yes, my husband is sick in his chest. He caught it from me. Caughing, spitting up yellow sputum, wheezing, weak, in head & chest. Afraid it is going to turn into pneumonia. We have ciprofloxacin 250 mg & 500mg from where my husband takes for his kidneys at times. Can he take these meds for his bronchitis?
